Back in the ’90s, I embarked on an exciting venture in Dominican Republic real estate development, leaving behind the bureaucratic stress of Germany. During the next two years, I approached prospects through sales agents and established a sales venue and purchased my first land development projects. About that time, I met Bernie and Jens, enthusiastic young men eager for adventure. Little did I know that Bernie and I would form a professional and personal relationship that would span four decades. I invited these guys for a drink at Cabarete Beach, with its stunning sunset, warm weather, and vibrant atmosphere, this was a perfect introduction to the laid-back lifestyle on the North Coast. It's no wonder they fell in love with the place! I connected Bernie's desire for a job on the beach with an expat acquaintance who had a similar ambition. They were successful at arranging permits and providing jet ski rentals on Playa Dorada Beach.
By building high-end housing developments, I also fostered connections and opportunities for others in the community. This blend of business and camaraderie made for a fulfilling experience for everyone involved. While the Business was doing well and Bernie was making a good living he became bored just sitting on the beach all day and watching his Jet Ski investment. So, I invited him to help me entertain my Real Estate Prospects, offering them a great Caribbean experience. The clients loved his refreshing and positive attitude. Bernie originally hailed from Poland’s Great Lakes region and was happy he made the move to the DR. A great place to raise a family. He soon married into a fine Medical professional Dominican family during the time I moved to the dot com boom in California. Bernie chose to stay in the DR and a son and daughter rounded out his family. Now he is married to a Dominican Accountant. She is a successfully owner of her firm over the last 20 Years.Bernie continued my business model (connecting people with a personal and professional home. He purchased the first Beachfront Property from me and, found a partner that was willing to build the first Escondido beachfront condominiums. They sold out rather quickly! Today he is a co-developer of Wave Condos (WaveCondos.Com) in Enquentro and a partner elsewhere. He recently celebrated his 32nd year anniversary living in the DR. Here he still enjoys offering concierge-level service, starting with your arrival at the local Airport. Then, he will show you the new projects being built and guide you to your new Caribbean lifestyle. He’s easy to talk to and is proficient in Polish, proficient in Spanish, and English and German.
